Unit 2, sesión 3

Wednesday, 12 October 2022

Hello everybody!

In class you have been learning about waves and tides.

I am sure you found some of the information interesting. For example, the other Smurfs found it very interesting that the height of the waves depends on the wind speed. We also didn't know that tides have their origin in the attraction of the Moon and the Sun on the oceans and seas.

With me we will review some of the concepts you have learned about this section in last class. So, we are going to play a computer game.  You must answer the questions correctly, and then we can move on to the next activity.

Very good, you have done very well. For those of you who weren't very good at it, that's OK, this was a reminder!

Now, let's try a much easier activity. It is a riddle. You will have to work out what the picture you see is about.

Good! You got it right! Now, Papa Smurf has come...

Hello students!

As you may have already guessed, today is the...

            EXPERIMENT!

We are going to work on ocean currents, and to do so we are going to check whether it is true that warm water stays on the surface, while cold water is submerged at depth.

For this experiment, you will need:

- A transparent container.
- Fresh water at room temperature.
- 2 glasses.
- Hot water.
- Cold water.
- 2 sponges.
- 2 food colourings (one red and one blue).
- Cold water.

I leave the following video for you to see how to do it. You should do it at home and take a photo or a video, so that the next day you can show it in class. Smurf brave will help you, I am sure that with his help you will be able to present it very well. Bye bye!
