Good afternoon my little friends!

Today we are going to work on the different economic sectors, kids. To do this you should look at the pictures, use the book, and remember what your teacher explained this morning.

Are you ready?

PRIMARY SECTOR

Link

The primary or agricultural sector includes activities through which food and raw materials are acquired from nature. For example, this sector includes agriculture, livestock, fishing, forestry and mining.

  • Agriculture: production of vegetable species and different crops.
  • Livestock: with the production and breeding of animals.
  • Fishing: with the exploitation of the different species that can be found in rivers, lakes, oceans and seas.
  • Forestry: which focuses on activities aimed at the cultivation and conservation of forests or woodlands.
  • Mining: activity related to the use of mineral resources in the soil.
This is a sector that has evolved with technological advances, which have had a great impact, although they coexist with traditional practices.

SECONDARY SECTOR

Link

The secondary sector is a sector comprising economic activities linked to the industrial transformation of food, goods and merchandise, which are used as a support for the manufacture of new products.

Two forms of industrial activity coexist: an artisanal one, with simple processing mechanisms and limited productions, located mainly in underdeveloped countries, and an industrial one proper, which uses mechanical energy and produces diversified articles on a large scale.

  • Basic industries: whose products are the raw materials for other industries, especially the extractive, chemical and steel industries.
  • Consumer goods: which take advantage of the raw materials of the basic industry and manufacture products for consumption. These include the food, textile and metallurgical industries.
  • Transportation: which, in addition to being a service, is considered an industrial activity.

TERTIARY SECTOR

The tertiary sector encompasses activities that do not directly produce material goods and satisfy a need of the population. The variety is enormous since it includes any profession that is not within the agricultural or industrial framework.

Wholesale and retail trade, catering, hotels and restaurants and repairs.
Transportation, storage and communication.
Financial services, real estate, business services and insurance.
Social, communal and personal services, where domestic and personal services, health and social services, leisure and culture, public administration and defense, and private non-profit organizations stand out.

It is worth noting that it is the basis of the Spanish economy today, with tourism constituting the main source of income for our country.
