Unit 1, sesión 1

Wednesday, 14 September 2022

Hello little flowers! I hope you are ready to start this great adventure with me and the other Smurfs!

As I told you in the presentation, we are going to start learning a lot of things and for this you will have my help to carry out the different activities.

First of all, we will watch a video that will introduce us to the topic we will be talking about over the next few weeks. This theme is one of my favourites and I am sure you will love it as much as I do. I'll give you a hint about what we're going to talk about:

What's the weather like today?

Once you have watched the video, we will complete a worksheet that I have prepared for you to check that you have understood and have not had any doubts. Good luck!

Unit 1, sesión 2

Friday, 16 September 2022

Hello again!

Let's review what was explained in class.

We have learned about the atmosphere and how it protects us. We also know that there is a layer that makes ultraviolet rays less harmful. Finally, the teacher has explained which layers form the atmosphere.

You will now fill in this worksheet and I will check that you have understood everything very well!

I had written down the height of each of the layers on a piece of paper, but unfortunately, I accidentally spotted it while eating chocolate, try to find out what it says on the paper.

Unit 1, sesión 3

Monday, 19 September 2022

Hello everyone,

I know you have met the Smurfs, so I wanted to make you a deal.

The other day, I saw Papa Smurf doing an experiment to be able to control the weather. This way, he could make it rain when the fields need it. With this, I could make it rain and thunder, so that the Smurfs would stay at home and I could catch them.

If you want the formula back, you must answer at least six questions correctly. To do so, I will start by explaining the organisation of the game.

First of all, you will have to form groups of 5 or 4 people each. Each team will choose one member to be the spokesperson.

Then, you can play below or click here.

Hello everyone!!!

I don't know if you have understand all, so... let's do an activity to check that you have understood everything.

Now, you should complete the following scheme by filling in the five gaps with the sections that have been explained in the book, as well as the most important information about each one.

Unit 1, sesión 4

Wednesday, 21 September 2022

Hello again, you have already seen in class that clouds are made up of small water droplets and form in the troposphere. You have also learnt about the two types of clouds that exist. Finally, you have seen how clouds and precipitation form, and the types of precipitation that exist.

As I want you to have a good understanding of how clouds and precipitation are formed, I will propose the following activity:

Hello, my pretties!

I will now explain how you are going to carry out the following task for the next class. This will consist of making a model about the water cycle in pairs.

Before you do it, you should watch the next video in case you have any doubts about the water cycle.

https://oceantoday.noaa.gov/watercycle/otkn_804_watercycle_sm.mp4

Forgive me! I forgot! In the next class we will expose all the works and I will show you the models we will do in the smurf village. I hope yours look really beautiful!

Unit 1, sesión 5

Friday, 23 September 2022

Hello sweeties!

I have already seen some of your models!

Next, you will have to exhibit them but first I want to show you the ones we have created in smurf village! We hope you all like them!

We had a contest where everyone had to vote for their favourite and the winning model in the Smurf village was the fourth one.

First model

Second model

Third model

Fourth model

Hello! Before you expose them, I will give you some tips...

1. We will give you 10 minutes before start presentations, and you have to practise.

2. While you are doing your presentations, you should speak slowly and at an appropiate volume.

3. If you use had movements to point out what you are explaining, the rest of your classmates will understand the model better.

Good luck!

Unit 1, sesión 6

Monday, 26 September 2022

Hello everybody,

As you have already seen in class, there are different instruments or gadgets that measure the weather.

Make teams of 3 or 4, we are going to play a game!

Then you will have to turn the roulette that will appear in this link and you will get a name with its corresponding photograph. You will have to say what the instrument is used for, what it measures.

Hello everyone,

I propose an activity for which you will learn to be geographers.

First, when you arrive at home, you will have to watch the weather forecast on TV and note (you should draw it) the meteorological symbol that relates to the province of Cordoba. You must fill in the table below.

Then, you will have to take a picture of the weather.

You will have to do this all week, from Monday to Sunday.

Hello everybody! Finally we have met! Today I bring you a super cool idea to make at home! I hope you like it.

After much investigation at home I created an invention that you can make at home and show it in class the next day. If you do it, you can have 1 extra point in the exam!

What we will do is to create our own weather vane (you can decorate as you want), for that you will need :

- 2 paper plates
- Scissors
- Poster board
- Plastic straw
- Straigh pin
- Pencil
- Modeling clay
- Glue
- Compass

Unit 1, sesión 7

Wednesday, 28 September 2022

Hello everybody!

You have already learnt in class what the weather is and its factors. To check that you have understood everything, we will do some activities.

First of all, you will have to fill in a interactive worksheet.

For the first activity, you will have to select the correct answer.

Then, you will have to match the weather factors with the corresponding sentence.

Finally, you will have to do a listening activity and write down the words indicated in the audio.

To do this, you must click here.

Here is the worksheet, but you will need to do it online, because it is interactive:

The following activity is about the climate that we can find in our autonomous community.

In Andalusia, as we have already learnt in class, we can observe three types of climates.

Print or draw the following map. Then, you will have to colour the areas that have each climate.

Unit 1, sesión 8

Friday, 30 September 2022

Hey guys, you're about to finish the climate travel!

Now you know so much about the topic, so we are going to test you. You have to demonstrate everything you know and then you will be ready for the exam on this topic. I am sure you will be able to do very well!

To start with, we will do three activities so that we will go over some parts of the topic. Next day we will continue with a review of the climates and then we can finish the topic.

1. Put the sentences in order.

Hint: they are about the weather and its elements.

2. Answer the questions.

When you turn the flashcard over, it will ask you if you got it right (tick or cross).

3. Match the instruments with their uses.

Unit 1, sesión 9

Monday, 3 October 2022

Hello again! This is the last review before the exam.

Are you ready? I'm sure that if you've been reviewing these days it will be very easy for you.

We will review climates (definition and factors) and then, you will be ready for the exam. I'm sure you will do very well, good luck to everybody!

Unit 2, sesión 1

Friday, 7 October 2022

Hello little adventurers!

The other Smurfs have told me that you have learned a lot of things about the weather.

Now we are going to learn more about the water on Earth!

I am sure you will love it, there are lots of interesting things about water that you don't know yet.

First we will learn what sea water and inland water are.

Then, we will learn what rivers are, what their parts are and what they are like in Spain.

Finally, we will learn how rivers and seas are polluted and how to avoid this.

To begin with, we need to know important information about water, so I have brought you this video.

Stay focused, because later I will check that you have understood the information in the video.

I hope you like it!

The importance of water and its uses

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLJl6MDuCWQ

As you have seen, water is very important for everybody, without it we could not survive. To see if you understood the video, let's do the following worksheet:

On the back, write what you thought of the video (what you liked the most, what you found interesting, what you knew, what you learned).

That's all for today!

Unit 2, sesión 2

Monday, 10 October 2022

Hi guys!

Oceans, as you have already learned, are large bodies of water that separate the continents. If you didn't know, they cover more than 70% of the Earth's surface!

I have brought this activity which consists of searching this wordsearch for the words that are written on the right.

It won't take you long, but do it properly so that I don't get angry.

Now you will have to do a slightly more difficult activity. This consists of completing a crossword puzzle, so with the definitions you will have to find the corresponding number and write the corresponding word inside the squares.

Unit 2, sesión 3

Wednesday, 12 October 2022

Hello everybody!

In class you have been learning about waves and tides.

I am sure you found some of the information interesting. For example, the other Smurfs found it very interesting that the height of the waves depends on the wind speed. We also didn't know that tides have their origin in the attraction of the Moon and the Sun on the oceans and seas.

With me we will review some of the concepts you have learned about this section in last class. So, we are going to play a computer game.  You must answer the questions correctly, and then we can move on to the next activity.

Very good, you have done very well. For those of you who weren't very good at it, that's OK, this was a reminder!

Now, let's try a much easier activity. It is a riddle. You will have to work out what the picture you see is about.

Good! You got it right! Now, Papa Smurf has come...

Hello students!

As you may have already guessed, today is the...

            EXPERIMENT!

We are going to work on ocean currents, and to do so we are going to check whether it is true that warm water stays on the surface, while cold water is submerged at depth.

For this experiment, you will need:

- A transparent container.
- Fresh water at room temperature.
- 2 glasses.
- Hot water.
- Cold water.
- 2 sponges.
- 2 food colourings (one red and one blue).
- Cold water.

I leave the following video for you to see how to do it. You should do it at home and take a photo or a video, so that the next day you can show it in class. Smurf brave will help you, I am sure that with his help you will be able to present it very well. Bye bye!

Unit 2, sesión 4

Friday, 14 October 2022

Hello my brave ones!

Today is the day to show your work to the rest of your colleagues.

Each one will have approximately 3 to 5 minutes to explain how he/she did it, with whom, what was the easiest/difficult part, what he/she liked the most/least...

To do so, I will give you some tips...

  1. First of all, we will leave you ten minutes to practise your presentation. During this time, you should rehearse what you have prepared at home beforehand.
  2. Now that you have rehearsed you are a little bit more ready to speak in public. To relax, we are going to take a deep breath.

How do you do deep breathing? I will explain it in a few simple steps.

  • We are going to do a technique called 4-7-8.

We will take in air for 4 seconds, keep the air in for 7 seconds, and finally, expel the air for 8 seconds.

Now you are ready for this exposition, good luck to everybody, I am sure it will go very well!

See you later!!!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, once your work has been presented, I will show you two of the works that we have done here in the Smurf Village.

First experiment

Second experiment

In your experiments as well as in ours, you will see that warm water, being not very dense, rises to the surface. While cold water, being very dense, goes down.

At the end of this day of exhibitions, you will have to fill in this worksheet, so that you can make a self-evaluation of your work, evaluating how you have done your own work.

Unit 2, sesión 5

Monday, 17 October 2022

How is it going? Are you enjoying this theme?

Today we are going to do some activities about rivers.

We are going to use the computer!

Also, your teacher has told me that next day you will go on a trip to see the Guadalquivir River! I am sure you will have a great time!

Today we are going to start with an interactive activity in which you will have to complete this sentence about rivers

You must select the correct answer.

The next activity will consist of answering questions in the form of a word game. In it there is a donut containing each letter of the alphabet. You have to read the question and answer it with one or two words that contain or begin with that letter.

You have a maximum of ten minutes and you will see how easy it is!

Hint: all the words are related to rivers.

Unit 2, sesión 6

Wednesday, 19 October 2022

Hello adventurers!

Today we are going on a trip to see the Guadalquivir river!

I hope you had a great time, then you will have to answer some questions about the talk about the river...

Hey guys, time to put in pairs!

We will play a game about the river Guadalquivir that you have visited.
